Texas forever and ever...

Spring time in Texas ... when the pollen tickles your nose and makes your eyes itch to the point you wish you didn't have them. One day it's 90 degrees and the next you are kicking yourself for putting away your winter clothes. The rain falls the hardest in the morning when you are dropping kids off at school or picking them up in the afternoon. Thunderstorm warnings are followed by endless tornado watch postings and kids and animals are running into your room in the middle of the night because they think the actual lightening is out to get them.

But then... there's....

bluebonnets!

(Which also leads to #momswithfancycameras pretending to act like they know what they are doing and force their children to sit in the bluebonnets and smile.)

This year I promised them it would take 10 minutes or less if they just sat and smiled...

Years of picture taking practice paid off...

and we were done in 10 minutes exactly!

Emmy even found time to twirl (and if I was more than just a #momwithafancycamera this picture wouldn't be blurry).

I can't get over how big these kids are getting...

the tops of their heads keep getting further and further away from the tops of those bluebonnets.

And because I'm a sap... I decided to take a stroll down memory lane and...

This kid is going to make an awesome husband and dad one day for like a thousand noble reasons, but also because he smiles on cue.

Favorite bluebonnet pictures of all time were when Emmy just was not having it. And she hasn't changed a bit... when she doesn't want to do something, she's not doing it.

This sweet baby - I have pictures of Rad and Emmy in this spring tradition but they aren't on this computer, so it just feels like I didn't take them until Landry was born. I mean - that's the exact opposite of third kid mom behavior!

So, spring time in Texas may be crazy... but it's also awesome.

Texas Forever...

There's really not much I don't like about Texas. The people, the food, the weather, the football... so much about our great state just screams "home" and as silly as it sounds, I wouldn't want it any other way. This time of year, you can't get much more Texan than posing in the bluebonnets. Spring is crazy for us and I really wanted to snap a few pics of the kids before they were gone for the season so after our crazy and fun-filled morning, we loaded them in the car and headed to this sweet field in the neighborhood Jenni grew up in.

The girls were quick to smile but had the toughest time trying to resist the urge of touching those flowers.

Radley; however, couldn't open his eyes. Ha! This is total proof that my kids don't always take perfect pictures. ;)

I will say that we did this at 3pm, which is one of the worst times of the day to take pictures in the sun. Poor kids was going blind.

Good thing I love a nice profile picture.

All these beautiful buds just bloom in the yard of one of our family friends.

Landry was in absolute heaven.

I think if I was a millionaire, I'd buy some land in hill country and load it up with bluebonnets.

One of my favorite traditions each and every year!

Wild about flowers...

We finally made the time to get in our annual wildflower pics. I love this little Texas Tradition and how often these pics are posted on FB and Insta by my sweet friends. Just love seeing all these precious kiddos!

We found an amazing patch of Indian Paintbrushes on Hwy 40 and had to stop. While the Bluebonnet is the official state flower, I love these red beauties, too!

Landry got sad when Rad and Emmy walked away.

But Emmy was happy to run up and make her giggle.

Success!

And, smiling pictures are great, but I also love the one where they aren't looking at the camera, too. How sweet is she in this sea of red?

Emmy didn't need any tactics to get her smile.

But Landry wanted to tickle her anyway.

:)

The flowers literally went on forever.

Ok, maybe not literally. But you get the idea.

And this kid is an old pro.

Radley wanted to get behind the camera and snap a few shots of his sisters. Is he maybe a little Sarah in the making? How much are lessons running these days, friend?

I would like to note that Landry's jumper is a 6-12 month and Emmy is wearing an 18 month.

Why do I even buy new clothes?

Then we drove down a bit for some pics in bluebonnets and didn't have nearly as much luck at finding a great patch.

I love when pictures describe their personalities.

Rad, first born: the pleaser, the achiever, the do-what-I-told
Emmy, the middle: the funny one, the dramatic one, the I know I am cute, so let's take some pics
Landry, the baby: the ornery, obstinate one who maybe will do what she's asked but doesn't really care because she's the baby.

He's still not really into sitting in the grass, but he has a killer smile.

They really do love getting their pictures taken.

Hmmm, wonder why?

She wanted hers with the red ones, "tew".

And well, then there's this one.

How can we not laugh?

She's just so dern cute!

Our 3 loves!

As we were headed to the car Radley asked if he could take some pics of the flowers. I'm pretty impressed, maybe he will end up in National Geographic one day!
;)
