Style Me Stella...

I'm pretty sure that we have established that I am not a fashion blogger. For several reasons that include...

1. My lack of selfie skills
2. My lack of flat-lay skills (I don't even know how to spell that word)
3. My lack of energy (Y'all... the planning that goes into posts is exhausting!)

Fashionistas. Fashion Bloggers. Fashion Gurus. Fashions Queens.

I salute you!

All of that to say, I was kind of excited when my friend Jennifer approached me about her new Stella and Dot adventure. I should probably add "hopeless with accessories" to the list above if I'm being honest and not because I don't enjoy/appreciate a good statement necklace... more because I wear the same three all the time!

Jennifer loves an accessory and she also loves telling people what to do helping people find their best look so this new venture is perfect for her. She let me pick out some pieces from what she has from the new line and y'all... I am pumped!

Quick confession: I don't have my ears pierced. Well, I had them pierced but that quit working out my senior year in college. I also have freakishly small wrists so bracelets aren't my favorite. So basically I wear necklaces. But don't let that stop you from looking at the line, because there are some amazing items!

Here's what I selected:

Here's some plans for styling them...

(remember what I said about a flat lay)

(and don't judge because I took these on my phone with no natural light in the room)

(Carla Tassel and Chevron Bracelet)

(Sutton Necklace and Chevron Bracelet)

(Jacqueline Lariat)
ps. I think this necklace would be AWESOME worn backwards if you had a backless dress

(Sutton Necklace - extended and Chevron Bracelet)

I'm excited to get some wear out them the next couple of weeks and try different styles. Most of these necklaces can be worn at least two ways so if you think about that,  your price/piece goes down. Browse Stella and Dot's page to get an idea of what you may want and then you can join our "party" beginning THURSDAY at 7pm!

As always, the more the merrier! They have a big sale coming up so now is a perfect time to order! The party will be open for three weeks - so you have plenty of time to shop!

Which look do you like best? I'm dying to get the York Necklace so I can try out a few different looks!

WIWW: A first

So this is my first "WIWW" or What I Wore Wednesday for everyone that speaks in actual words instead of letters.

It's a first for a few reasons -

1. I don't know that my style is super blog worthy

2. I take horrible selfies

3. I never remember to do posts in time

4. I take horrible selfies

5. I'm "Queen of the Kings" not fashion.

6. Did I mention the selfies?

BUT, today you are in for a treat because I think I totally hit this one out of the park  (if I do say so myself.)  #andIdo

Indulge me -

I was in my closet pouting because I had to actually get up and go to work (and if I'm being honest, it was the 2nd visit to the closet. I had already thrown myself back in bed and told Ryan I would love him so much more if he was a millionaire. #okjustalittle) and could not decide what to wear.

Because I am in the 7th grade.

And you are all now asleep because, boring.

But, then I decided on a skirt because I had shaved my legs and all. Grabbed my favorite red skirt, white tank and then heard my Dad's booming voice: "You will NOT just wear a white tank top without anything over it." (Of course he would think I should wear slips and panty hose, too...sweet Pops). But, I had already tucked it in and changing is hard so I looked around and saw my adorable JCP floral jacket and threw it on.

Then shoes.

Y'all. I have 100 pair of shoes. Why is it hard? Why?

But then, y'all, then... I remembered Shelly's post on stripes and floral so I took a big fat chance and threw on my striped Toms wedges.

And, I mean... I feel like a TOTAL fashionista grown-up which is just what I needed to get out the door and adult today.

(See numbers 2, 4, and 6 above).

Bless my non-millionaire husband for indulging me in a picture. He even said "Do you want the shoes?" #keeper

JCP Floral Jacket (Similar(ish) here) / Banana Republic Pocket Skirt (Unavailable) / Target White Tank (here) / Tom's Striped Wedges (Unavailable, Similar here) / The Heart Knot (here)

So basically, if I can do it - so can you! Happy Wednesday y'all!

Royal Recommendations: Round 2

Dear Readers,

You may remember my love affair with leggings started a few years ago. You may also remember that last year I found the perfect pair of leggings. I loved them. I bought two pair. I wore each pair once/week. At least. They were fabulous. However, due to the astronomic amounts of wash and wear they received, their days were growing dim and I was on the hunt for the replacement pair.

I was prepared, dear readers, for a rebound relationship. Nothing was going to compare to these pants of the past. Nothing. But, I was on a mission, because, well, a girl needs pants.

I had some criteria:

  1. Leggings/Jeggings - I already have enough slacks
  2. Elastic waistband - Yes, like maternity pants (which, I'm not gonna lie - I considered, because... ELASTIC)
  3. Flattering fit - must suck in and lift (reference above, 3 babies and you need these kinds of things)
  4. Affordable - Some would argue that you should spend the extra money and get the things that will last forever, and I agree. However, our lifestyle includes small children... I'll buy nice things when I'm not at risk of having things spilled, spit, or sneezed onto me regularly.
  5. Variety - More than just a pair of black leggings.
My search began like most searches do, at the mothership. Also known as Target. And, they had a good showing - a few prospects. One pair was out when I noticed the side zipper. Y'all - no. Not flattering. Or comfortable.

The other pair was out when I looked at the price tag. While they did, technically meet criteria #4, I have a $40 or less rule on clothing items at Target. They did have some cute "vegan" leather options that I didn't feel like I was cool enough to pull-off. So if you are, then go for it.

And then I went to where I should have started, Jaque Pennet. Also known as JCP. Also known as my Nordstrom. I am Penney's girl. Tried and true - it works for me. I find what I like. I like what I find. And the quality is good. (It also doesn't hurt that I benefit from my Dad's retirement discount.)

Jackpot.

I present to you, dear readers....

A few things to note:

  1. I am not a fashion blogger.
  2. I bought all three colors.
  3. I will never ever ever ever ever ever EVER wear my shirt tucked in with jeggings. Ever.
  4. These seem to hold their shape between wears nicely. I may or may not have worn a pair two days in a row for research. You are welcome.
  5. They are on sale for $23.99!!!
  6. I bought a medium (for size reference, I wear a 6-8 in pants). (I can't believe I just put that out there for the world to see).
  7. They are denim but they don't look like it. Especially black - you could get away with dressing them up.
  8. Elastic. Elastic. Elastic.

I tried desperately to come up with two more things, but there was no need. Go forth. Buy jeggings. Tell JCP I sent you.

xoxo
