It's her party...

And she will lay down on the floor refusing to smile if she wants to.

I had a feeling that she was going to wake up a little grumpy from her nap so in an effort to get that over with before the party, we put her down earlier than normal and woke her up around 2. Ummm. She was just not having any part of her birthday. Tears. Landry tears. Emmy tears. MOMMY tears. I may have had a **moment** (or ten) and then I decided that was dumb. It's a party. A silly party... no one cares if she is grumpy and grumpster she was.

Landry, let me tell you something... getting older is not that bad. Really. I promise.

No, it won't always be cute to poop and then let everyone know about it.
No, it won't always be funny to eat food found in the bottom of a carseat
And sadly, the habit of chewing on random objects to soothe your mouth becomes weird past a certain age...

But, getting older is really fun. :)

Landry eventually warmed up to the idea of being cordial.

And we finally got a smile!

And took full advantage of that mood by playing "pass the baby" to everyone that had arrived.

Pete, Cristina and Kailyn...

the Birthday Girl herself...

Gigi and Pops...

Tia, Josh, Millicent, Caroline and Annaliese...

And the kids (smiling)...

Doesn't everyone look so cute in their shades of pink?

And silly by request!

And finally the siblings!

And smiles were soon to be followed by sass.

The party was actually pretty awesome. Our sweetest friends gathered to celebrate our littlest princess. I am so grateful for the people that we get to live the every day with. The runny noses, the forgotten show and tell item, the laughs, the tears, the milestones big and small. Every single one of them is so important to us and I am overjoyed to know that they stop to celebrate with us.

Because this little stinker is so worth celebrating!

She was excited about her cake and sang along with us.

She couldn't even wait for us to quit singing before she started to blow out her candles.

And she did a great job, too!

After the most delicious cake ever, and some other sugary goodness it was time to head outside. Talk about blessings... the rain stopped and the kids got to play outdoors.

(Which obviously meant less mess for me to clean inside!)

Big girls use the big girl swing. I think I have this same pic of Radley and Emmy at their second birthday party.

::mental note - find pics, do comparison::

Cooper was convinced that Jenni had put him in Karli's shirt for the day. Because clearly boys don't wear pink.

And can I just give a shout out to this toy? Y'all - everyone loves it! It was relatively inexpensive ($60), easy to assemble and move. And good for littles to bigs... I recommend a teeter totter as an addition to your backyard.

The trampoline?
notsomuch

Haha - Landry didn't want anyone else to jump when she was jumping. They actually had tons of fun and we could split the time between big kids and little kids.

I mean, seriously. What did we do before kids?

The wind finally picked up so we headed inside for some gift opening.

And picture taking.

That obviously included silly faces.

Y'all.

She loves a silly face.

The Kents had to make their way back to Waco...

and the rest of the crew headed to dinner at Blue Baker.

We had the best time celebrating this sweet 2 year old.

What an overwhelming blessing you have been to us, Landry. The Lord knew exactly what He was doing when those two lines appeared unexpectedly. In our saddest moments of grief came this unmistakable shining light. You.

All of your spunk.
All of your sass.
All of your incredible joy and laughter.

May you always choose to smile even when you feel like laying flat on the ground. And may you always always stop for one more bite of cake.
