We had a pre-Easter celebration on Saturday afternoon including a cut-throat egg hunt.
Look at these competitors...
Ryan and Josh had the difficult job of placing the eggs out in the open hiding the eggs and the kids waited patiently for us to begin.
Emmy waited a little too patiently - she decided to make an entrance.
;)
Don't worry, Millie, next year you can play!
Anna was proud of her find.
Radley *may* have been the most competitive.
Caroline was sure to share with everyone.
And Emmy just waited until everyone was done and swiped eggs from their basket.
Then we pulled out the confetti eggs that Jenni sent to Radley. I was hoping for a fierce race but everyone just stood there and let their "partner" break the egg straight on their head.
Radley and Caroline...
Emmy and, uh...
Emmy.
(yes, her glasses are on upside down)
Anna got attacked by surprise.
Even Josh and Ryan just stood there...I guess they are just too old and tired to run.
;)
They're still pretty cute, though.
We didn't leave this one out...she just sleeps a lot these days.
After naps and a refuel of food, we tackled the annual tradition of dying eggs.
Radley was so careful placing each one in their specific color while Emersyn would just throw them in the cups full force. A tiny bit indicative of their personalities, eh?
For about 25 minutes we didn't think about anything else except what was right in front of us. We talked about the meaning of Easter and why the Easter celebration is more important than even Christmas. Radley asked questions, Landry kept sleeping and Emersyn continued to throw eggs in the dye. And I thought about the next 15 years of us doing this exact same thing.
We had a great day leading into an incredible weekend and at the center of all of it, was a sacrifice made for each of us that we don't pause enough to remember.
