We celebrated Radley's birthday from sun-up to sun-down. Thursday night Ryan and I decked out the house in gold. We filled Radley's room with gold balloons, we hung gold stars, we blinged out "his" chair, and we even spread gold streamers in the bathroom. (I didn't take that many pics - so just use your imagination).
We set out his presents and were ready for the big birthday boy to wake up!
But, like he does from time to time, Radley made his way into our room around 4:30am. I was slightly disappointed that I didn't get to see him run through his streamers on his door. Ryan eventually took him back to his room and when it was time to wake him up I noticed the streamers were still there.
Me: Radley - how did yo get out of your room?
Rad: I crawled under like this ::quick demonstration::
Me: Why?
Rad: Because I wanted you to take a picture of me running through.
That's MY boy!
;)
He was thrilled. Seriously, he had so much fun looking at all of his "golden" stuff. And Emmy loved it, too - she even asked us when her "spahkely" birthday was.
Love this kid.
Love this kid soooo much!
We got everyone dressed and then it was time for presents...
(For those that asked, I got his shirt from this etsy vendor!)
Okay, so we took one more picture before presents. His sisters were showing him some love, too!
We told him that he got 5 gifts that day and his 6th gift was his bowling party on Sunday. We are sneaky like that...
I surprised him at lunch with sushi, and yes, he ate every single bite...
and cupcakes for his class.
Then when we got home, he got to open a surprise from Gigi and Pops. He got a special "dollar bill" and was clearly excited about it. He was more than excited - he was ecstatic. This was a reaction I was hoping to get later when we gave him our big present (stay tuned for that).
By 5, our nearest and dearest began to arrive.
Caroline even agreed to sword fight with the birthday boy!
Then it was time for me to cry through "Happy Birthday".
What? You don't do that?
He got to open a few more gifts, including golden treasure from the HMMs.
And smile for a **few** more pictures...
including a reenactment of his first pic with Tia and Uncle Josh...
and of course one with Uncle Pete.
And the crew, too!
We had the best day celebrating our GOLDEN boy.
BUT...there was one surprise left...
