So our last day in Baton Rouge didn't really go as planned. (But what does anyway?)
Our initial plan was to drive to NOLA and visit the aquarium but on Thursday we decided we would all be too exhausted for that. Instead, we were going to take the kids to the planetarium downtown.
Ryan was "in charge" of checking hours of operation, etc... and well... we arrived at 3:40 and they closed at 4.
(Not saying a word)
Instead we picked up ice cream and went for a long visit with MaMaw. Her physical therapy that day included puzzles and I think Radley was a little jealous that he wasn't invited to help her.
We went back to the house, ate some dinner, packed up our bags and then finished off our celebrations with some sparklers! Radley (aka Harry Potter) loved them, Emmy wasn't a fan, and Landry was asleep.
We party hard around here.
Us girls enjoyed the big show that Mr. Rad and Dad put on. Emmy is having much more fun that she lets on.
And before we knew it - it was time to head home.
We took our time on the trip back, stopping a few times for some potty breaks and snacks and then we finally made it to the blessed Texas border...
Can you guess who bought the kids' clothes? The things we let our parents do! :) Rad's shirt actually belonged to Jeremy... so it's vintage.
The rest area at the Orange, TX border is pretty awesome. If you go into the main building and walk to the back you get to explore about 200 yards of wild life and vegetation.
I never would have guessed that this was hidden on the side of a major interstate.
Radley kept trying to find alligators and snakes and even though we were not blessed with either... it was a great unexpected adventure.
I would call our inaugural Kings of the Road vacation a huge success. I am so eager to explore each state with the most precious cargo around.
