I know I've mentioned that Radley is almost four.
Well, this must be the age of why and what and how! On one hand I am so glad that he is eager to learn...on the other.... my creative answers are getting less and less so.
A few examples.
Rad: Why those tractors over dere, Mommy?
Me: Because they are working on the road.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because we need to drive on safe roads.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because Mommy and Daddy pay taxes for our roads to be safe.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because someone tells us to.
Rad: Why?
Me: So that we have police officers, firemen, safe streets and other things.
Rad: Oh. Then why aren't they moving?
Me: What?
Rad: The tractors?
Me: Because they are sleeping.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because it's not time to work.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because they need a break.
Rad: Why?
Me: You know how Thomas takes a rest? Tractors need to rest, too.
Rad: In a roundhouse?
Me: No.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because they don't have those for tractors.
Rad: Oh.
2 minutes of silence.
Rad: Why that building broken, Mommy?
Me: Because it's old.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because it was built along time ago.
Rad: What they going to do with it.
Me: I don't know, buddy. Maybe tear it down.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because it's not safe standing up.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because it's already falling down.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because it's old.
Rad: Oh.
2 minutes of silence.
Rad: Why we wear swimming shorts to school today.
Me: Because it's splash day.
Rad: Why?
Me: So you can have fun.
Rad: We go to the beach?
Me: No, buddy, just school.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because it's not our turn to go to the beach.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because our turn will be later.
Rad: When?
Me: I don't know.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because Daddy and I have to talk about it.
Rad: Why?
Me: Because that's what grown ups do.
Rad: Why?
Me: Good question, buddy. Maybe we should just go.
Rad: Ok.
Whew. I'm tired just thinking about the ride home!
sounds VERY familiar...our conversations are so fun but so exhausting!! :)
