Dear Radley...

It seems like just yesterday we were writing a letter promising moments of "just us 3" after your sister arrived. And now your next sibling is due to arrive any day... and the thought of watching you once again welcome a baby with love makes my heart melt.

You are one awesome big brother, little man. Emersyn just absolutely adores you as evident by her morning ritual demand of "Radley, Radley, Radley" while she points to your room. You are caring and kind but provide enough tough love to keep Emmy on her toes. You share freely, lead by example and give her your whole heart. You hurt when she hurts and you rejoice when she succeeds. You stick up for her on the playground but push her down when no one is looking (only once or twice). Mostly, you love her without question. You give her your favorite toy. You speak when she can't. In short - you are everything that a big brother should be.

I pray every day that your dad and I let you know how proud we are of you. Your tender heart, your generosity, your desire to please and your sweet voice asking question after question make my days complete. And those quiet moments after we have put Emmy to bed where we get to be "just us 3" remind me of the days when life was a little bit slower.

You keep telling us that you are ready for MAK to arrive. Asking when we get to bring the baby home or when will the baby come out of Mommy's tummy. You've let us know that you don't care if MAK is a boy or a girl and remind us how helpful you are going to be. And you know what? You will be more helpful than you can begin to realize. You will teach Emmy and MAK about little things like how important it is to offer love and affection, to take a little time to stop and be silly, to giggle for no reason, and sometimes to even throw a great big giant fit.

You continue to teach your dad and I about what it means to love freely and how exciting learning something new can be. You grow up a little more each day but you still have the need to be held.
I pray that we always fill that need for you - whether or not it is the physical need to be in our laps or just the need to be held in thought and lifted up in prayer. Know that you always have that from us. That you are loved and supported more than I thought would ever be possible. That you have two little ones craving to follow each move that you make and two parents that could not be more proud of their son than we are of you.

Our dear Radley - you are our joy. Our laugh out loud at life. Our reminder to live each and every moment to its fullest. To be loud. To love hard. To cry when you need it. To rejoice at the small victories.

Yes, sweet boy, God chose you to be the oldest child in our family. And while I don't know what else I can say - I do know that I want you to know what a blessing you are to me, your dad and your siblings. You bless our lives each day more than I can ever type or express.

You are loved. You are supremely loved. Each and every day.

Love-
Mom and Dad
