Fall is in full swing and out of all the season's, I'd have to say it's my favorite. And you know want to know why...
Game days...
And I'm not just talking the kind that bring 100K people to a stadium. I mean the ones that bring a smaller crew together. I love the buzz of Saturdays at the soccer field. All the darling kids running around in their uniforms and cleats and playing their hearts out. I especially love that the girls never trade sportsmanship for style. Bows. Everywhere.
And don't underestimate them - what they lack in size, they make up for in ferocity. I mean. Check her out - shoving that kid out of the way like a boss.
We may also take advantage of actual game day activities by hitting Target right at kickoff because - no crowds. Like empty Target. It's like we are on a Hollywood movie set filming a scary twilight-zone movie where a town of 100K+ people is empty. It's also amazing.
Family days...
Fall means that peak season is also around the corner and we soak up every bit of nothing that we can. At one point, she looked up at me and just said, "Mommy - I love our family." And then my heart exploded and melted all at once. Why do we spend so much time planning these big, perfect moments when all they really want is our attention in the middle of all the chaos.
Seasonal pjs are also a favorite. When I was putting them to bed and Landry looked down to see that they glowed in the dark that she was almost too excited to sleep!
Sick days...
So, truth... this isn't an actual favorite, but it is part of the territory that comes with Fall. And I while I don't love being sick or when my kids are sick, I do sometimes appreciate the forced "you need to slow down" time. And blessings come from the craziest times... we were waiting for Dr. Henderson and Emersyn looked up and squealed. "MOMMY! Those are the books that we donated!" Love how that kindness comes full circle.
Do not love that my medicine cabinet looks like a pharmacy. Seriously. Ugh. But at least I'm on the good cough syrup.
And, I do LOVE any excuse to eat whatever I want. I really needed those nachos. Like REALLY. So I called Chuy's, ordered my favorite, waited for the kids to go to bed and totally dove in. No sharing. No deciding what movie to watch. Lorelai and Rory would be so proud.
And if that wasn't enough to make my day better, Holly dropped off some sunshine. Seriously - is this real life? Blogging has brought some of the best people in my life and I am grateful grateful grateful.
And that's us in an instant!
Oh, aren't they adorable. :)
